Even though Durham is a collegiate university, students in all colleges are supported by a central Students' Union. In addition to the opportunities provided in Hatfield by the college and JCR, you can get involved in over 200 societies funded by the Union.
The Students' Union also oversees the work of course representatives from each department, elected in Michaelmas term. These students are the first point of ccontact if you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your course. They regularly meet with the department and voice and concerns that students have. Contact details for your course reps can be found here.
The work of the Students' Union is coordinated by five dabbatical student officers elected in Epiphany term who work full-time at the Union for one year. Information abou the current DSU Officers can be found here.
Hatfield is represented in the Students Union Assembly-the highest democratic body in the Union-by our Communities Officer. The Communities Officer works closely with their team of Junior Representatives and the DSU Officers to represent Hatfielders' interests to the Union. If you have any concerns, stop by one of the Communities Officer's regular focus groups!
Updates on what's happening in the Students' Union can be found on the Students' Union in Hatfield Facebook group. where summarised minutes, agendas and other information are regularly shared.
