As a fully catered college, all students living in Hatfield have three meals a day provided as part of their accommodation. Cooked breakfast is served from 8:00--9:00 on weekdays, with continental breakfast available until 10:00. A hot lunch is served each weekday from 11:45-14:00, though there is a salad bar and small deli available. Brunch-a Hatfield favourite consisting of your choice of 7 options-takes place at the weekends from 11:30-13:30 (though there is a continental breakfast served from 8:00-11:00).
On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (and Tuesday after Michaelmas term), dinner is served from 17:30-19:30. Due to formals on Tuesdays and Fridays, dinner on those days is served from 17:00-18:00. Dinner is served on Saturday and Sunday from 17:00-19:00. Any changes to these normal meal times are announced each week in the JCR and Weekly Welfare emails, and advertised around colelge in advance.
A choice of vegetarian options are included at each meal service, including formal meals. Any particular dietary requirements should be discussed with our Food and Beverage Services Manager, Darryl McNary, upon arrival to college.
Livers in are required to bring their meal card (issued during Freshers') to each meal service. Replacement cards are available at the Porters' Lodge for £5, though we'd recommend you check the hall first, as it's bound to show up somewhere!
Hatfielders are very fond of our catering team, who have been rewarded on multiple occasions for excellent food and service. The views of the JCR are represented to the catering team by the Facilities Officer, JCR Secretary and the Food Reps, who sit on the college's Catering Working Groups-if you have any feedback, make sure to let them know!
