The Durham Review of Books is a termly publication, launched independently by a group of students at the city’s university. It aims to be an intelligent, challenging and irreverent short collection of essays, in roughly the same format as the London Review of Books.
The Durham Review of Books is looking for writers to contribute to our third issue, based on the theme of ‘Cities, Urbanity and the Metropole’.  If you are interested in writing please submit your article ideas to i.j.turner@durham.ac.uk by the 26th JanuaryMore information can be found on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DurhamReview
We are also looking to recruit a Publicity Officer and Cover/Graphics Artists. Head over to http://www.durhamreview.com and check out the vacancy section for more information and details on how to apply.

Durham University Classical Theatre proudly presents Bernard Shaw’s ARMS AND THE MAN.

Things really couldn’t be any better for Raina Petkoff. Her dashing cavalry-officer fiancé Sergius is the hero of the hour, and she looks forward to a life of perfect romance. But then a strange man breaks in through her bedroom window, and her life begins to turn upside down…

DUCT’s first play of 2015 is a drama both hilarious and moving, full of wit and poignancy. Don’t miss out!

The next formals will be on Friday 31st and Tuesday 4th November. Sign up will be at the normal times but they’re both different so listen up!

Friday is a Guest Formal. It is black tie and there will be a cheese course plus a couple of other small bonuses. We worked hard on formal prices over the summer and have got the price for guest formals to £3 for livers in and £5 for livers out which is around half price compared to last year.

Tuesday is Awkward formal. This is a DUCK event where you can pay a small fee to charity to move where your friends will be sitting, or for immunity for yourself. As such, there will be a seating plan. It’s a lot of fun so please keep an eye out for further information from DUCK – definitely not a formal to miss

For further information on any of the above, have a look at the email in your inbox
